Welcome to the Albany Military Hospital website. This website was initially created by year 6 pupils as part of a 2014 project and is now updated by staff and pupils at Albany Primary School. This link will take you to a YouTube video showing the work we have done as a school and community since 2014. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPRuhn7tpBI

Albany Military Hospital Logo – Designed by a year 6 pupil

The project has helped our school and wider community commemorate the centenary of World War 1. The whole project was recognised by the Welsh Heritage Schools Initiative and won a Moondance Foundation award from the WHSI.

Through the project we have been contacted by people whose relatives had spent time in the hospital as patients during WW1. We have also worked with Roath local history society, Roath Virtual War Memorial and Glamorgan Archives to discover and share new information. The project has provided authentic exciting learning opportunities for the children to learn through real history and fully understand the part our school played during World War 1. We regularly update the @Albany1914 Twitter feed with any information that we find. After four consecutive annual exhibitions we have been unable to run exhibitions since 2018 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but we held a public exhibition on Wednesday 9th November 2022.

If you wish to share or find out any information please contact us through the contact page on the website or through twitter.

Below is a video showing our first exhibition at the school.
